Meet our CPOs

Cultivating a safe-space for youngsters at Carrick RFC

The role of Child Protection Officers (CPOs) at Scottish Rugby Clubs is crucial for ensuring that young players and participants are safe, protected, and supported in a positive environment. Whilst the protection of our children is everyone’s responsibility, CPOs are tasked with creating and maintaining policies and practices that safeguard children and vulnerable individuals involved in the club’s activities. Their duties include assessing risks in the environment which might affect young players and ensuring that all adults working with young people undergo thorough background checks. For parents and guardians, Anna and Lyn are your first point of contact should you wish to raise any concerns. At the same time, they will be educating our young players about their rights, what constitutes unacceptable behaviour, and empowering them to speak up if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

#CarrickRFC cultivates an inclusive safe-space for younger players and our CPOs play a significant role in creating a respectful and caring environment where our children are able to build community and play rugby.

At Carrick RFC, Anna or Lyn are your first point of contact for any child protection and safeguarding concerns, as well as general advice and training.

They can be contacted at carrickrugby@gmail or found pitch-side at most Carrick RFC training sessions and matches.

Anna Connon came to Carrick RFC through her son playing for the school and the club from age 11. She was involved in the youth section through fundraising and joined the Committee in 2020 as a CPO.

Farmer’s wife, Lyn Reid, is mother to two of our youth girls’ players, and married to one of the lead coaches in our growing Women & Girls’ section at the club. She became a CPO in 2024.
